Parkstraße Project Gmunden

19.03.2026

Right above Lake Traunsee, the Parkstraße new build project in Gmunden is creating modern architecture straight out of a picture book: clean lines, spacious terraces, and floor-to-ceiling glazing that opens up views of the lake, Schloss Ort, and Mount Traunstein. To ensure this view remains clear even in winter, the T-STRIPE window heating system was installed in the fixed glass corners – invisibly, right inside the silicone joint.

Why fixed glass corners are thermally critical

Fixed glass corners (also known as all-glass corners) are a highlight of modern architecture: two panes of glass meet directly without a frame or post, allowing an unobstructed view around the corner. From a structural physics perspective, however, this exact spot is the weakest part of the entire construction.

The edge seal sits at the glass edge, keeping the individual panes of insulating glass at a distance. It conducts heat significantly better than the gas-filled center of the pane, thereby acting as a thermal bridge. In a fixed glass corner, two of these edge seals come together in the exposed outer corner – completely without a protective frame. The result: the surface temperature drops significantly on the inside of the glass corner. As soon as it falls below the room air's dew point (which is already around 13 °C at a room temperature of 21 °C and 60 % humidity), moisture condenses right there. Condensation and, subsequently, mold at the most beautiful spot in the room are inevitable.

The Institute for Window Technology (IFT Rosenheim) has confirmed this behavior by calculating different glass corner structures: with both double and triple insulating glazing, condensation on fixed glass corners can hardly be ruled out, even when using thermally improved spacers. With the T-STRIPE window heating system, however, the risk of condensation can be reliably prevented. You can find the full expert report here.

The Solution: T-STRIPE invisibly installed in the silicone joint

In the Parkstraße project, the T-STRIPE heating element was installed directly into the silicone joint of the glass corners during the new build phase. The major advantage of this installation method: the flexible heating element, which is only 3.5 mm thin, completely disappears into the joint and is not visible once finished. The puristic appearance of the fixed glass corner is 100 % preserved.

The system is controlled via a thermostat with an external sensor that measures the surface temperature directly on the glass. This means T-STRIPE only heats when the glass corner actually cools down too much – energy-efficiently and fully automatically. A single thermostat can control multiple windows in a room together.

The Parkstraße Project in Gmunden

The Parkstraße project is situated in an elevated location above Lake Traunsee in the Upper Austrian Salzkammergut region. The apartments feature floor-to-ceiling sliding elements, wraparound terraces with glass railings, and those very frameworkless fixed glass corners that make the panoramic view across the lake to Schloss Ort and Mount Traunstein possible in the first place.

Particularly with this combination of large glass surfaces, an exposed lakeside location, and high aesthetic standards, forward-thinking planning pays off: instead of fighting fogged-up windows, puddles of water on the parquet flooring, or even mold later on, the condensation problem was solved here before it could even arise. Residents enjoy their lake view even on cold winter days – without wiping windows, without compromises.

Are you planning a project with fixed glass corners?

Whether a new build or retrofitting: T-STRIPE reliably keeps fixed glass corners, fixed glazing, and large window fronts dry. For new builds, the heating element is invisibly integrated into the silicone joint; for existing glass corners, it can be retrofitted on the inside.
