Power Consumption – Energy Requirements of the T-STRIPE Window Heating
The energy requirements (power consumption) from operating the T-STRIPE window heating against condensation formation (condensation water) on windows vary in every household, as they depend on the number and size of the equipped windows. The power consumption of the T-STRIPE window heating against condensation formation on windows is low, precisely because approximately two-thirds of the energy used is released into the living space. Often there is a cold air drop at windows, which can subsequently be perceived as drafts. This cold air drop is also minimized by the warm radiation of the window heating. The power consumption of the window heating is approximately 10W/m/h.
Operation of the Window Heating and Additional Benefits:
Since we know how important power consumption is, we have calculated the additional electricity costs of the window heating during a heating period in winter for an apartment in Vienna that is equipped with the T-STRIPE. Because approximately two-thirds of the energy used / electricity costs are released into the living space from the window as radiant heat, you are supporting the living room heating. Since cold radiating windows lead to increased heating, the window heating indirectly helps to save heating costs. Through control with the thermostat, which measures the temperature of the pane and thus switches on specifically when necessary, the heating can be further optimized. With the thermostat control, the heating is switched on approximately 30% of the time during a winter (observation period: October to April).
5 windows are equipped with T-STRIPE
- each window has a perimeter of approx. 3.5m
- the power consumption per window is approx. 35 watts (approx. 10W/m/h)
- the 5 windows are controlled via a thermostat, which automatically turns the window heating on and off according to the window pane temperature
- Winter: October to April (7 months in Vienna)
With this low power consumption you can
- save unnecessary ventilation and heating, and consequently reduce heating costs.
- protect your health and that of your children from toxic mold.
- save time daily that you would otherwise spend wiping windows dry.
- significantly increase the lifespan of your windows.
- increase the value of your property.
- improve living quality because windows radiate less cold.
